When I was researching universities for my MSc in Business Analytics, Newcastle University stood out for its academic reputation, diverse student community, and the vibrant city life it offers. The decision to join the Business School has proven to be one of the best choices I've made.

On the very first day, I was welcomed at the airport with the friendly University staff, who ensured I arrived at my accommodation safely.  From that day, the welcoming atmosphere and the support provided by the staff and faculty have been exceptional. The induction week was a great start, giving me a chance to connect with my peers, many of whom come from different parts of the world. This diversity has enriched my learning experience, offering fresh perspectives on business challenges and solutions.

One of the highlights of my journey so far has been a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to participate in a London National Trek (organised by the Employability team), where I visited the offices of Incendium and PwC. This experience allowed me to engage directly with professionals in the industry, gain valuable insights into their operations, and understand how data-driven decision-making plays a pivotal role in their success.

The Business School’s focus on experiential learning has been particularly impactful. Through engaging modules I’ve gained hands-on experience essential for my career in analytics. Working on various case studies has allowed me to apply theoretical concepts to real-world scenarios.

In addition to my studies, I’ve had the rewarding experience of working as a Postgraduate Panellist, helping potential students by answering their queries and promoting the University. Being able to share my experiences and guide others through their decision-making process has been incredibly fulfilling.

Beyond my learning journey, I’ve had the chance to participate in several career-focused events, including employer meetups and workshops. These sessions have given me invaluable insights into the industry and enhanced my professional skills. I also appreciate the dedicated Careers team, who are always available to support us when reviewing our CVs, interview preparation, and even long-term career planning.

Life outside the classroom has been equally enriching. Newcastle is a perfect blend of modern times and the history of the city, with its iconic landmarks like the Quayside and Grey Street, and vibrant student-friendly cafes and pubs. Exploring nearby attractions like Tynemouth beach and the stunning landscapes of Northumberland, has been a refreshing escape from the busy academic schedule.

Joining societies like the Consulting Society and Business Society has helped me expand my network and gain insights into industry trends. These experiences have not only contributed to my personal growth but have also solidified my career aspirations in analytics and consulting.

Newcastle University has exceeded my expectations in every way. It’s a place where I’ve grown academically, professionally and personally. The blend of academic excellence, industry connections, and an inclusive, supportive environment makes it a fantastic place for anyone considering higher education.
