Did you know that as a student you can get free tickets to watch our university basketball team – the Newcastle Knights – play?
Whether you’re a sports fan or not, there’s nothing quite like the atmosphere and sense of community you get from attending a match!
Newcastle Knights compete in League 1 of the National Basketball League – the second top professional league in the country. Our very own NUBS student Austin Sacks is on the team and the School has some exciting things coming up with the team, including a competition. So watch this space for details!
Why attend the games?
First off, it’s completely free—so no excuses! Joining your fellow students to support the University’s team is a no-brainer. Basketball is a fast-paced, action-packed sport, with high-flying moves and hundreds of points scored. It’s athletic, exciting, and perfect for anyone to watch, even if you’re new to the game. The best part? The fans sit courtside, right next to the action, making it an interactive experience like no other. Plus, you’ll have the chance to meet the players after the game.
Expect an electric atmosphere with music, plenty of seating, food and drinks, and even university-branded merch available for purchase. And let’s not forget about Percy the Lion – our crowd-pleasing mascot who often steals the show. It’s the ultimate vibe for catching up with friends while enjoying some competitive live sport.
Upcoming games and locations
The games take place at the University’s sports centre in sports hall 1 so the venue is easy to get to.
